How To Live A Healthier and Happier Life

There are many culprits for dissatisfaction in life, and I found that many of them are due to the inability to reach a certain goal, the dissatisfaction of the way we look, or just plainly not knowing where our life is headed. These factors can be a hindrance for finding the best version of yourself, and sadly, many people really do struggle because of it.

There’s no rule book on how to live a good life. Sometimes, it just happens and sometimes, you have to go and get it to achieve success. But before you can do that, you have to feel good about yourself to prevent the dissatisfaction that can distract you from your goals. Here are a few tips on how to live a happier and healthier life.

Have A Colorful Meal

A colorful plate that consists of green and yellow vegetables, fruits, and protein is best. Try to make sure that you don’t eliminate the food you love just because you want to lose some weight. You can still enjoy the treats you want, but in smaller portions.

Deprivation is the main reason why people who are doing so well with their weight loss tend to lose their track. If you’re active or on a weight loss fruit pill, eat whatever you want, but make sure it is both healthy, and reasonable.

Junk-Proof Your Home

If possible, remove everything you have in the fridge or pantry and start shopping for food at least once a week. Make a weekly healthy meal plan. This allows you to go back to the grocery store and buy more whole foods and spend less money.

Yes, they perish quite quickly, but that’s the reason why a weekly shopping is preferred. You shield yourself from buying preserved and processed food that can be very unhealthy for you.

Meal Prep

If you’re living a fast-paced life and healthy food is almost impossible to consume on a regular basis, a meal prep on your day off would be a great idea in making sure you eat healthy meals during the week. You can make fresh salads and dishes ahead of time and store them in individual microwavable containers.

When kept in the freezer, these meals can last you weeks. This convenience saves you both money and time. Instead of getting take-outs at work, you can simply bring your own lunch, pop it in the oven, and have a healthy, home-prepared meal. You eat less fat, sugar and calories this way.

Stay Active

You don’t have to get a gym membership to be active. If you’re not into it, don’t waste any more money on that. You can take mini-workouts by simply taking a 30-minute to an hour walk.

The more, the better! Instead of sulking at home watching a movie on the weekends, go to the park and walk around. Or go to the mall for some window shopping. Anything that keeps those legs working will prevent you from packing up the pounds. This even lowers the risk of getting Diabetes.

Plan on The Things You Love

A head-strong and focused individual, no matter how physically active they can be, tend to forget to do what makes them truly happy. Make sure to take some break from work and consider taking a “happy hour”. Whether it’s reading a good novel, going to a karaoke bar, climbing mountains or going to the beach, they should all be a part of your life no matter how hectic things could get.

Save Money

Earning money is one of the things that keep us alive today. However, the money you save now, and spend later, is what makes all the hard work worthwhile. Seeing the fruit of your labor will bring a sense of pride and satisfaction. If you can, try to get a saving account and save as much as you can.

Living a healthy and happy life requires your body and mind to be in unison. Try to create a “me attitude” to make sure that you are taking care of yourself. There’s nothing wrong with being selfless, but you need self-improvement to become truly happy. Work on that first, and you’ll notice a positive ripple effect on your friends, family and colleagues.

Tips On How To Get Back On Your Fitness Goals

There are times that you’re more likely to eat more that you normally would. Overindulgence can sometimes take over our brains, especially during the holiday season, and instead of sticking to healthy, balanced and portioned meals, you sometimes splurge on what’s not allowed even if you know you shouldn’t.

When this happens, you are consuming more than what you can burn, and if you don’t. If this continuous, you will gain more weight and increase your body fat.

Have you been eating and drinking a little too much? You might be wondering – how much weight have I gained?

To be clear, nobody really gains 20 pounds in the course of the holidays that passed. From Thanksgiving to New Year’s Day, claiming that you gained 20 pounds is an exaggeration.

A study of 195 individuals found that on an average, holiday weight gain is just around 1 to 2 lbs. Even though majority of the individuals in the study did not make an effort to stick to their current weight, it was not normal to gain more than 5 lbs.

This means, you noticing a huge chunk of weight gain is an accumulated number over the course of one year. Though some people may beg to differ, it is considered norm to pack up at least 1 to 2 pounds a year. Gaining this weight over the years will explain why some people, all of a sudden, are suffering from obesity at their mid-age.

With that said, how can you prevent overindulging on food and drinks? Below are some tips that can help you stay on a healthy track prevent gaining more weight than you should.

You Need To Hydrate

Drinking plenty of water can help with increased energy, fat loss, appetite regulation and overall improved performance. As soon as you wake up in the morning, get yourself a glass of water to get your body started.

Drink as much water as you can all throughout the day. Women should get their fix of 2 to 3 liters of water, while men should get around 3 to 4.

Choose A Healthy Diet

Just because you’ve been overindulging doesn’t mean you need to start detoxing. Actually, you can skip the detox part and start eating healthy instead. If you haven’t established a healthy eating routine yet, here is an example that you can follow.

1. Eat More Vegetables. Vegetables are high in fiber and water content. They are also packed with vitamins and nutrients that are good for you and your metabolism. Eating more vegetables will keep you satisfied and stay fuller throughout the day. As plants take more time to be digested, it’s a sure way to prevent yourself from eating unnecessarily.

2. Eat Whole Foods. Whole foods are satiating and nutrient-dense. It also contains fewer calories compared to packaged and processed food. Going to your local wet market, instead of the grocery store, will allow you to choose more whole foods.

3. Get a healthy breakfast, fit for a king. Eating protein in the morning, such as eggs, or lean turkey can help improve your metabolism. If you’re always on the go, you can prepare protein shakes in the morning instead. You can fill your tumbler with it and drink it on your way to school or work.

Stay On A Normal Schedule

Sticking to a schedule tells your body that you’re not depriving it of food. Normally, eating a 3-meal course with 1 snack in the afternoon is preferred. However, some people have different types of metabolism and would opt for 2 meals and 3 snacks. Find out what works best for you by experimenting.

Re-focus on Your Fitness Goal

Overeating and overdrinking is not a reason to give up on your fitness goals. Instead of giving up, rethink on your goals right now. Do you want to build muscle? Do you want to burn your fat? Move forward by making new commitments and actualizing the vision you made. Create strategies and experiment on what works for you.

Eating and drinking too much for a brief period of time is not a hindrance to your goal. You just have to sit down, and rethink things through in order to continue or start your new goals.

Benefits of mineral water

France is the epitome of not just cheese, but mineral water as well. In France, there are 1200 mineral water springs which is 20% of the European total.

These mineral waters have a specific chemical composition that gives them therapeutic benefits. Below we show an overview of the benefits of mineral waters.

Categories of mineral waters

There are 5 main types of mineral waters:

– bicarbonate waters: They are used to treat certain gastrointestinal and liver hepatobiliary. They are also used to treat acne and burns through their anti-inflammatory, soothing and healing properties.
– sulphated waters: These are used for diseases of the kidney, certain metabolic diseases, the treatment of eczema, scars and burns.
– sulphurous waters: Their high content of sulfur has an effect on mucous membranes. They are also used to fight against respiratory diseases such as asthma.
– chlorinated waters: They have a stimulating effect on growth and are indicated in the treatment of developmental disorders.
– oligo-metalic waters: They are used in rheumatology and to treat some neurological diseases.

Mineral waters have a variable mineral content. If it is too high (more than 2 grams per liter), such water is not really drinkable. It is considered as a drug and should be consumed in small quantities only. some waters even contain some gold. Doctors recommend that people vary their mineral water consumption to enjoy each specific benefit.

The major commercial mineral waters are:
– St. Yorre, Vichy Célestins: rich in bicarbonates, it has excellent anti-acids.
– Rozana: rich in magnesium and calcium, it participates in neuromuscular functioning and helps solidify the bones.
– Hépar, Badoit: rich in magnesium, it provides good muscle relaxation after exercise.
– Courmayeur: rich in sulfate and calcium, it is used to facilitate the removal of fat.
– Evian, Valvert: these waters are slightly mineralized and as such are recommended for infants.
– Contrex, Vittel: these calcic waters play a role in the growth and strength of bones.
Volvic: this water with little soda is rich in rare elements such as vanadium.
Badoit, St Amand: they are fluoridated and contribute to the growth of bone and teeth.

What is the difference between spring water and mineral water

Source water comes from groundwater. They are bottled at their place of emergence and are subject to specific regulations. They all naturally comply with drinking water standards. Source water may undergo certain purifying treatments to remove unstable elements such as iron, manganese or gasses.

Be aware that a few spring waters can hide under a single brand. If you usually buy a specific brand in one location, the water contained in bottles of the same brand in another place could not be the same. Waters come mostly from local sources because of transportation costs.

On the other hand mineral waters are rich in minerals and oligo elements and have therapeutic properties. They are required to have received approval from a National authority, recognizing its health benefits. Mineral waters should not have undergone any treatment: their composition must be the same as when they are underground.

France has 1200 sources and more than 70 brands of mineral waters. Each French person consumes about 141 liters of mineral water per year. But they must pay dearly to enjoy the benefits of mineral waters as they cost about 1000 times more than tap water.
